War in Ukraine: was a long-range ATACMS missile used by Kyiv to strike an ammunition depot in Russia, 130 km from the border?

According to the Ukrainian press, Kyiv carried out its first strike in Russia with long-range ATACMS missiles, on the night of Monday November 18 to Tuesday November 19. The target is believed to be a warehouse where ammunition was stored near the town of Karachev in the Bryansk region.

Last week, the administration of United States President Joe Biden lifted restrictions on long-range missiles which previously could not be used directly on Russian territory.

A decision which comes at a time when Ukraine has been asking for this possibility of targeting Russia for a long time and in particular because of the concern that has been growing since the election of Donald Trump, during the last American presidential election, and the choices that could be made by the future head of state.

And it is precisely in this context that the Ukrainian press, which cites a source from the Defense forces, announcement that Kyiv would have used for the first time ATACMS long-range missiles against a Russian warehouse located near the town of Karachev, Bryansk region, 130 km from the border.

This would be the 67th arsenal of the Main Rocket and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) of the Russian Defense Ministry.

Several videos are already circulating on the networks and on which we can see a large explosion. According to our colleagues, it could be due to ammunition that was present in the building. Among them, artillery ammunition, North Korean shells or even anti-aircraft missiles.

The media RBC Ukraine specifies that this is not the first time that this warehouse has been targeted. He had already been attacked during the month of October by several drones and emphasizes that, for this new strike, the Ukrainian general staff reported 12 explosions.
