An early Christmas present. More than two million people will receive the Christmas bonus, automatically paid to beneficiaries of minimum social benefits or job seekers from December 13, announced this Tuesday, November 19 in Ouest-France Paul Christophe the Minister of Solidarity, 'Autonomy and Equality between women and men.
“The transfer will be made on Friday December 13, beneficiaries will see it appear in their bank account between December 14 and 16,” said the minister. Payment is made by the Family Allowance Fund (CAF) for RSA beneficiaries, the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA) for farmers or France Travail (formerly Pôle emploi).
What are the amounts of the 2024 Christmas bonus?
The amounts of the Christmas bonus paid by the CAF and the MSA vary depending on the family situation and the number of dependent children. It takes 152.45 euros for a single person, to which we add “50% when the household is made up of two people, whether a spouse or a child, and another 30% per additional child”, explained the minister to daily.
A single person with a child will thus receive 308.72 euros while a couple with a child will receive 274.41 euros: the 35% increase for single parents is renewed for this year. So for a couple with two children, count on 320.15 euros and 370.45 euros for a single parent with two children.
For a couple with four children, the premium will be 442.11 euros and will be increased to 457.35 euros if the single-parent family is made up of five children. An amount of 60.98 euros is added for each additional child beyond that within a couple, 82.32 euros if it is a single parent.
At the same time, the amount paid by France Travail is fixed. Whatever the family situation, it amounts to 152.45 euros.
What are the conditions to benefit from it?
French nationality is not necessary to qualify, but certain eligibility conditions must be respected.
CAF pays the Christmas bonus to two categories of people:
- Beneficiaries of the base RSA and the activity bonus (if the household resources do not exceed the amount of the base RSA depending on the composition of the family)
- Beneficiaries of the Specific Solidarity Allowance (ASS), at an increased rate or not
The Christmas bonus paid by France Travail, also called “exceptional end-of-year assistance”, is reserved for certain people:
- Beneficiaries of Business Creation Assistance (ACCRE) only if you were in ASS before
- Beneficiaries of training remuneration paid by France Travail if it follows payment of ASS, to beneficiaries of the Retirement Equivalent Allowance (AER)
- Beneficiaries of the flat-rate bonus for resumption of activity
- Beneficiaries of the transitional solidarity bonus
However, people who receive the Return to Employment Allowance (ARE), the Disabled Adult Allowance (AAH), the minimum old age or an activity bonus are not eligible. Please note that only one Christmas bonus can be paid per household, this is not taxable. Some companies can also give a bonus to their employees.
