Tanguy Cabanis becomes a professional bodybuilder IFBB (International Federation Bodybuilding). On the weekend of November 9 and 10, the head coach of the Gym Club Emblavez, who had succeeded in September in integrating Donovan Thomas into the French team, became a bodybuilding professional.
On November 9 and November 10, two important grand prix took place in Malta. The “Malta Grand Prix” which allows fans of national teams from all over the world to become professional by winning what is called the overall (the whole category).
Then finally “the Mediterranean Games”, which were to take place in an Asian country, but for security reasons, were relocated to Malta. Tanguy Cabanis therefore also registered for the Mediterranean Games where only the 23 countries around the Mediterranean can register. Here too, the winner of any category saw themselves becoming a professional.
The Gym Club Emblavez coach managed to obtain first place in his favorite category “classic physique” but also won the entire category to become professional twice. Both for the Malta Grand Prix and for the Mediterranean Games.
As he was afraid of not being at the weight of his category, which requires a height ratio +6 kg (in his case 170 cm therefore 76 kg not to exceed), he registered in bodybuilding under 80 kg where he won 1st place in both championships as well. Here on the other hand, he does not win the whole category.
Tanguy's word
Becoming a professional was not something I envisioned when I started 10 years ago. In 2022, an international judge came to see me telling me that I had my place among the pros and that I had to persevere. For 2 years I have been chasing it because I have a competitive spirit. Last year at the Portuguese Grand Prix, I missed him by one place with very few points difference with the one who became professional. Whatever it is, it's surpassing oneself that interests me, nothing else. Getting better every year. Today that I am a professional, I do not see it as a coronation or a goal achieved, but rather as a door that opens to other, much greater stages. Still challenges to overcome. And I like it! And now that I have managed to put one of my foals in the French amateur team, I had to go the distance by becoming a professional (laughs).
