Today a former coach who passed through the Girondins de Bordeaux celebrates his birthday: Laurent Blanc. Laurent celebrates his 28th birthday this November 18. The opportunity to retrace his career at the club thanks to Girondins Rétro.
Laurent Blanc today coaches the Al-Ittihad club (Saudi Arabia). Note that René Crockett would have celebrated his birthday.

World Champion with the French team in 1998, Laurent Blanc took advantage of the first years of retirement from sports to obtain a general manager diploma at CDES in Limoges.
These were the Girondins de Bordeaux and Jean-Louis Triaud who offered him his first position in July 2007. Benefiting from the successful passage of Ricardo and the preponderant support of Jean-Louis Gasset as assistant coach, the former international defender propelled Bordeaux to second place in the championship in 2008. He won the cup in 2009 by offering a 6th French championship title to the marine club and white, ending the reign of Olympique Lyonnais. The game offered to Bordeaux supporters, the emergence of leading players like Gourcuff
or Chamakhthe leadership he exercised within the Girondins suggested a long-term reign over the L1. After an exceptional Champions League group stage (1st in a group made up of Juventus and Bayern Munich), Bordeaux reached the quarter-final stage of the biggest continental competition.
But from the winter break, discussions between the Federation and the Bordeaux coach destabilized the Gironde squad which nevertheless seemed to be working in L1 (15 points ahead of the second place). Beaten by Olympique de Marseille in the League Cup final, Bordeaux ended the season coasting in an unflattering 6th place. Laurent Blanc left Gironde to occupy the prestigious position of coach of the France team in 2010. To succeed him, the Girondins turned to one of their legends: Jean That's it.
René Crockett

An attacker with a powerful and precise ball strike, René Crockett was skilful on set pieces.
Originally from the Arcachon Basin, René Crockett followed a university course at the Faculty of Bordeaux, while playing football. Received at the Pharmacy Boarding School in 1954, he had the honors of the university selection and played in a semi-final of the Coupe de France in 1957.
He devoted himself to his brilliant career as a researcher at the Haut-Lévêque cardiological center and professor of biochemistry at the Faculty of Bordeaux.
