The second agricultural union, the Rural Coordination, is holding its annual congress until Wednesday in Vienne. Opposed like other agricultural unions to the signing by the European Union of a free trade agreement with Mercosur countries (Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay), it also demands reductions in charges. France is looking for allies. Emmanuel Macron affirmed at the G20 in Rio de Janeiro that France was not “not isolated” in his opposition “as is” to the trade agreement between the EU and the Latin American countries of Mercosur, considering that several countries “join”. To be sure of being able to oppose it in the event of signature, France must bring together a blocking minority within the EU.

New actions planned throughout the territory. The troops of the majority FNSEA-Young Farmers unions remain mobilized for the second day in a row with a program modeled on the two days of the G20 summit in Brazil. According to the authorities, around a hundred actions were expected during the night from Monday to Tuesday.

The reasons for anger. The reasons for farmers' discontent are far from limited to Mercosur. Too many standards, unfair competition, not enough income or consideration… On the filter dams or in front of the prefectures, the messages are almost identical to those of last year, when a historic mobilization of farmers resulted in 70 government commitments.
