Supervision rate, salary, training… early childhood professionals demonstrate Tuesday in Angoulême

+ 10% salary increase

For years, the number of micro-crèches run by private structures has increased considerably. “They require fewer constraints,” notes Stéphanie Seguin. “For example, you can simply be a childcare assistant with one year of training and be a technical referent, that is to say manage a micro crèche. »

Another demand from the collective concerns the supervision rate. Currently, in crèches, there is one adult for every six children when the ages are mixed. “We would like to get down to one for five by 2027 and one for four by 2030,” explains Stéphanie Seguin. “Because when you're taking care of six children under 3, it's mission impossible. We no longer do reception. If a baby is hungry and we have to make him wait, it's complicated. » For a better reception, the collective also wants more qualified and not just qualified staff. That is to say a higher ratio of staff holding a state diploma in early childhood educators and not just an early childhood CAP “which can be done by correspondence in a few months”, indicates Stéphanie Seguin. “The girls who leave CAP do not have enough skills to be with the children, they say it themselves,” adds the director of the Nersac Early Childhood Center. To go further, the collective demands “an end to the use of unqualified personnel. »

To improve the attractiveness of the profession, the collective is demanding “+10% salary increase for everyone and in all sectors”. Concerning families, the collective wants a remainder to be paid “which is the same whatever the mode of reception. » In Charente, certain crèche services in the City of Angoulême could close on Tuesday due to this mobilization. The Nersac Early Childhood Center will be closed just like that of Montmoreau.
