PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) – Good evening everyone and happy Monday. We had an okay weekend with cloudy skies and showers working through at times. A blocking pattern is setting up for this week, with an area of low pressure sitting well off to the east of the region, while a weaker high pressure system sits off to the west. This resulted in some breaks in the clouds during the middle of the day, with a similar battle playing out through the remainder of the work week. The end of the week will finally bring some movement in the atmosphere, with showers likely Thursday night into Friday, with shower chances likely lasting through the majority of the weekend.
Going hour by hour through the rest of tonight shows the chance for an isolated to scattered shower possible between now and midnight. The remainder of the night will likely just feature cloudy skies, as temperatures attempt to cool off before tomorrow morning. Lows tonight won’t fall by much, with many communities seeing low temperatures bottoming off in the mid 30s. Northwesterly winds will still be gusty at times during the overnight, which will work to usher in the slightly cooler air, and will add a chill at times when winds pick up.
Tomorrow will be very similar to today, with mostly cloudy skies likely for the majority of the day. The computer models were showing this sort of setup for the daytime hours today, even though we did manage some sunshine for a little bit of time. With that knowledge in mind, we could see some sunny breaks for a brief period of time, however it’s more likely we’ll be stuck under the clouds over the next few days versus seeing any sunshine. High temperatures tomorrow will be similar to today, with highs reaching the mid 40s for most places by the afternoon. Northwesterly winds will still be breezy at times during the daytime hours, which continue to add a chill to the air at least until tomorrow night.
