Wout van Aert is still training in Spain. Yet not everything goes smoothly for Van Aert.
To prepare for the first Visma-Lease a Bike team training camp in December, Wout van Aert recently went to Spain to train. He already covered many kilometers there, including with his son Georges.
Van Aert trained about 500 kilometers per week over the past two weeks. However, the shape does not seem to be right yet. On Monday, Van Aert left at 10 am for a new training tour, but that did not go smoothly.
Not good form for Van Aert
Van Aert suffered a puncture and ultimately only covered about 34 kilometers. “The epitome of my bad form,” Van Aert wrote on Strava. So he is not very happy with his current form.
No drama for Van Aert, although he would enter the field in a month’s time after the Visma-Lease a Bike team internship. Without good form, Van Aert will also have a hard time in the current peloton of cyclo-cross riders.
It is not yet clear in which cross Van Aert will make his return. The World Cup in Hulst (December 21) and Zonhoven (December 22) or the Superprestige in Mol (23) are all options for Van Aert’s return.
