Everyone knew that the record reached in 2022, estimated at 29 million euros, would not be beaten. And for good reason. Only 445 pieces of 228 liters and three leaflets (half-drums) were offered to buyers around the world this year.

That is to say an almost halving of the volumes usually provided by this prestigious 60-hectare vineyard. The 2024 vintage, the first to obtain the organic stamp, after three years of conversion, suffered from excess rainfall, a source of ferocious attacks of mildew and powdery mildew.

Lot lookouts

This constraint of a limited volume of wine weighed on the auctions. Finally, the total revenue from this auction, which will supplement the Hospices' coffers to finance the modernization of its hospital establishments, stood at 13.9 million euros. A level higher than that of 2021 (12.6 million euros), another year of meager harvests, but well below the two following, more generous editions.

Likewise, the star lot of these auctions, the president's piece, a barrel of Beaune Premier Cru sold for the benefit of two associations, also slightly exceeded the 2023 auction, at 360,000 euros compared to 350,000 euros, the amount at which An additional donation of 100,000 euros was added, but far from the 810,000 received in 2022.

After a slight relaxation in prices, welcome to maintain the interest of customers wishing to treat themselves to the very popular Burgundian wines, the lower volumes have stopped the decline.
