Renato Veiga comments on his departure from Sporting to Augsburg: «It was mentally difficult»

Renato Veiga trained at Sporting, and the Lions chose to transfer the Portuguese in 2022/23 to Augsburg.

Renato Veiga gave an interview to the Chelsea media, where he spoke about his career. The defender commented on his loan to Augsburg, from Sporting, which lasted between January and June 2023:

«Living in Lisbon was great, so when I went to Germany it was a shock. It was mentally difficult. It was the first time I was away from my family. It was the hardest thing for me, because I'm a family guy. I was living with them in Lisbon and then I went alone, at 19, to Augsburg. It's like a village! It was a different reality, but it made me grow a lot. I had to do it, in such a short space of time, but without it I wouldn't have developed my character. I was trying to take a little bit of everything away and keep going. I really appreciate these moments».

The Portuguese international arrived at Chelsea in the last transfer market, coming from Basel and admitted that he is very happy in London and wants to do his best for his new club:

«To be honest, I'm just grateful and trying to enjoy every moment. I am very happy and proud to be here. It's always a proud moment to wear the jersey. I want to do my best for this great club and win many trophies. That's what we all want. We don't know when, if it's today or tomorrow, but that's our main goal and that's what we're working towards.».
