A rainy morning with wind
The northern two-thirds of the country, particularly north of the Loire, are swept by intense rains and strong winds. Only the extreme south, from the Pyrenees to the edge of the Mediterranean, is spared from the gray weather accompanied by scattered rains in Aquitaine, Franche-Comté and the Northern Alps.
Minimum temperatures range from 5 to 13°C.
An afternoon in the rain
Rain increases north of the Loire, while the wind begins to weaken. Temperatures peak and drop in the late afternoon, as soon as the rain stops. Conditions are very windy from the Atlantic arc to the Grand Est and Franche-Comté, with gusts reaching 80 km/h inland, accompanied by heavy rain. The rain-snow limit is around 1400m but should drop sharply in the evening. However, from the Pyrenees to the Southern Alps and around the Mediterranean, the weather is sunny and mild.
Maximum temperatures range from 9 to 12°C and 15 to 18°C in the far south.
An evening that deteriorates
From the Gironde to the Grand Est the weather conditions are deteriorating with showers and wind. Be careful from the end of the evening: a rapid decrease in snow is expected. North of the Loire, although the rains stop, temperatures remain cool. From Wednesday morning, vigilance will be required with a risk of frost and icy conditions on the secondary network.
Trend of the next days
From Wednesday, the weather will be cold and dry in the northern half. A few snow showers may occur as far as the plains, particularly between the Massif Central, Franche-Comté and the Northern Alps. It will be cold in the northeastern regions. The maximum temperatures will be worthy of January.
This Thursday, the Atlantic will experience a new disturbance which could potentially give rise to an episode of snow at low altitude as it progresses towards Limousin, the Massif Central and especially in the Center-East on Thursday evening.
