Return of the rain
From Tuesday, heavy showers are expected over a very large northern part of France while the last rays of sunshine will still appear in the south of the country. In total, 15 to 30 mm of rain should fall across the board and more than 50 to 60 mm in the Vosges department, which corresponds to three weeks of rain in the month of November.
“A hollow depression is approaching the British Isles and causing an episode of turbulent weather which is setting up over the country with heavy rain and a sustained windy spell at the start of the week,” warns La Chaîne Météo.
Gusts of more than 90 to 100 km/h are expected with peaks around 110 km/h, particularly in Pays de la Loire. It is Tuesday evening that the strongest wind episode is expected between the south of Finistère, the Pays de la Loire to the central regions then towards Franche-Comté during the night.
This turbulent weather should spread to other departments during the week. Temperatures will still be relatively high on Tuesday morning then will drop in the evening with the arrival of maritime polar air from the north.
Snow all the way to the plain
If the weather will cool down from Wednesday with temperatures around 10 degrees in Bordeaux, the sun, for its part, should be present over a large part of the territory except… in the South-West which will be covered in clouds and of rains.
On Thursday, a depression will cross France in the middle of an air mass conflict with a risk of gale force winds to the south and heavy rain from Aquitaine to the Rhône-Alpes department. And as it will be cold, snow should fall in abundance in the Alps after an autumn that has so far had very little snow. 20 to 50 centimeters expected above 2,000 m altitude. In the Pyrenees, average amounts of snow are also expected to fall.
