The former French international footballer, Marcel Desailly, now 56 years old, underwent a DNA test which confirmed he is indeed the father of Victoria, aged 10. However, he refuses to acknowledge her as his daughter.

Le Parisien traced the connections made by Marcel Desailly with a certain Cosma. Originally from Brazil, she moved to Paris in 2010 to train as an aesthetician. It was there that she met the former footballer once, then twice. At the time, the 1998 World Cup champion was still officially married to Virginie, his first wife and the mother of his four children. However, the relationship with Cosma became serious as the couple moved in together in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, welcoming a daughter, Victoria, in March 2014.

But when Cosma gave birth, Desailly, who was abroad, did not declare the child. According to reports, he also did not recognize Aïda, a child ruled to be his by the court in Toulon in 2014. At 23 years old, Aïda was not acknowledged by the former international, who had refused to undergo a DNA test.
In regards to his relationship with Victoria, Le Parisien notes that numerous photos show the family’s intimacy, while testimonies indicate that the child calls Marcel “dad”. In 2018, Desailly separated from Virginie, causing turbulence in his relationship with Cosma. After the 2020 lockdown, Cosma and Victoria moved to Spain. According to reports, Marcel Desailly sends some money to the mother of his daughter, amounts barely enough to cover the young child’s school fees. When Cosma requested Marcel to officially recognize Victoria, the contact was cut off. The mother then took legal action against the former footballer.

In explaining his behavior, the man who donned the France jersey 116 times stated he treated Cosma and Victoria “like any person would when meeting a friend with their child”. Allegations of violence against Cosma by Marcel Desailly have also been mentioned, particularly an incident in 2013 when he allegedly lifted her and slammed her against a wall during an argument, followed by a slap at a bar.
Since then, heated text exchanges erupted in spring 2024, with the footballer accusing his ex-partner of publicizing the affair. Cosma claimed to have been forced to close her beauty salon. However, a DNA test conducted by Victoria and Marcel this year delivered its verdict. She performed hers in Garges-lès-Gonesse (Val-d’Oise), while he took his in Nantes. The analyses, ordered by the court, indicated that the probability of paternity is “greater than 99.99999%.”

Finally, Le Parisien reports that Cosma is demanding €5,000 monthly in child support and intends for her daughter to carry the name “Desailly”. According to her mother, she “doesn’t understand why Marcel no longer calls her. She suffers from it, and I am sad for her.”
