Jacobelli attacks the prosecutor after her indictment against Le Pen

The spokesperson for the National Rally (RN) recalled that the prosecutor in charge of the case had been appointed “by Mr. Dupond-Moretti”, then Keeper of the Seals, and that what he considers to be “hostility” to his party “ask a question.”

A frontal attack. Five days after the prosecutor's office requested a five-year ineligibility sentence against Marine Le Pen as part of the trial of RN parliamentary assistants, the spokesperson for the far-right party, Laurent Jacobelli, was the guest of Franceinfo on Monday November 18.

After recalling that Marine Le Pen was “a litigant like any other, but no less good than the others”, the one who is also a deputy for called into question the independence and impartiality of the prosecutor in charge of this case .

“It's a political fact, we have a prosecutor who gives his political opinion, who believes that everything that journalists have failed to do for years, politicians have failed to do, she, she will do it: prevent Marine Le Pen from speaking,” he said.

Implicitly, the RN spokesperson also accused the prosecutor of political collusion.

“The prosecutor depends on the Minister of Justice, and therefore directly on the government. She was appointed by Mr. Dupond-Moretti as this prosecutor. She clearly expressed political opinions, that she was hostile to the National Rally, that raises questions. She is perhaps on duty ordered by herself, who knows,” he attacked again.

“Death penalty”

On Wednesday, November 13, the Paris court prosecutor requested a sentence of ineligibility against Marine Le Pen, considering that the provisional execution of this sentence of ineligibility is necessary.

In fact, if the court pronounces this sentence with provisional execution, Marine Le Pen would not be able to run in the next elections, including the presidential election of 2027, even if she appeals the judgment.

In addition, the prosecution requested five years in prison including two convertible farms as well as a fine of 300,000 euros. “This indictment is revolting, deeply outrageous” reacted Marine Le Pen, who also considered that the prosecution had requested a “death penalty” against her.
