Panama and Mexico advocate expanding ties in trade and security (+Photos)

In the talks, the parties expressed their interest in consolidating cooperation in key areas for both countries such as trade, migration, security and investment, an official note states.

According to the statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the president expressed her solidarity with Panama and the families affected by the recent floods.

In these talks, Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente, who accompanies Sheinbaum, also invited his Isthmus counterpart to visit Mexico and coordinate an upcoming meeting between the ruler and the president of the canal country, José Raúl Mulino.

Martínez-Acha highlighted the importance of dialogue and collaboration to face common challenges and take advantage of opportunities that can contribute to mutual development.

The charge d’affaires of Mexico in Panama, Santiago Mateos, also attended this meeting at the air terminal.

Sheinbaum left this Sunday for Brazil to attend the G20 Summit, to be held tomorrow with emphasis on issues such as the fight against hunger and poverty.

The dignitary announced that she will propose at the meeting to reduce spending on weapons and direct those resources to care for those most in need.

The G20 integrates the largest economies in the world, plus the European Union and the African Union, and represents 85 percent of the world’s Gross Domestic Product, 80 percent of investment, 75 percent of trade and 66 percent of the world population.
