Theo Hernandez would have liked to have joined Mike Maignan in leading France out at ‘his’ stadium tonight, but a knee injury will force him to miss out.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport report, Theo would have started for France against Italy in the final game of the UEFA Nations League group phase, but he will not be on the pitch against Luciano Spalletti’s Azzurri.
The full-back will miss the match because of a knock to the knee suffered in the 0-0 at the Stade de France against Israel. However, it is nothing serious and rather it is a precautionary stop, with Milan understood to be not worried about his condition.
What this means is that it that should not jeopardise his presence for Milan in the huge game against Juventus on Saturday 23 November, one that the Rossoneri can almost class as a must-win if they wish to get back into the title fight.
Hernandez played the full ninety minutes of Thursday’s match for Les Bleus, although he didn’t shine given the criticism he got from the French press. Deschamps had planned a bit of rotation for the match against Italy anyway, but now Lucas Digne should definitely play in his place.
