Muhammad Afif is from the founding generation of the Lebanese Hezbollah. He began his media work in the party in 1983. He was close to the former Secretary-General of the party at the time, Abbas al-Moussawi, who was assassinated by Israel in 1992, and Hassan Nasrallah, who was assassinated by Israel on September 27, 2024.
Managing media messages
Afif was appointed in 2014 to the position of Hezbollah’s media relations officer, in addition to his work as a media advisor to Nasrallah.
He managed news and political programs on Al-Manar News Channel, the party’s mouthpiece, and participated in managing media coverage throughout the war launched by Israel against Lebanon in July 2006.
He participated in managing media messages directed to the public. He also assumed responsibility for supervising the media and psychological war directed against Israel, and contributed to formulating the party’s political and strategic positions.
Assassinate him
A Lebanese security source announced the assassination of Muhammad Afif on November 17, 2024, in an Israeli raid that targeted a Hezbollah building in the Ras al-Nabaa area of Beirut.
Israeli Army Radio said, “Mohammed Afif, Hezbollah’s media relations official, was the target of the assassination in Beirut.”
Hezbollah did not issue any comment on the news of Afif’s assassination, at a time when the Lebanese Ministry of Health said that “one person was martyred and 3 wounded in the Israeli enemy’s raid on the Ras al-Nabaa area in Beirut.”
