“Democratic maturity also means responsible actors who confront each other through ideas…”

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye fulfilled his civic duty this Sunday, November 17, in Ndiaganiao. The Head of State was accompanied by the First Lady, Marie Khone Faye.

Facing the press, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye praised the calm and serenity noted during this vote. And recalled his invitation to the political class, during the electoral campaign. That of showing responsibility to fight a peaceful campaign, “ knowing that when the day comes, the people will have the same posture of greatness that we know and which is the pride of all Senegalese compatriots, whether they are from here or from the Diaspora« .

For him, democratic maturity also means responsible actors who confront each other through ideas and programs. Actors who speak to the people in serenity and mutual respect and who leave these people with the fundamental right that belongs exclusively to them. That of choosing your representatives or your leaders.

To this end, he invites voters, “ whether they are simple citizens or candidates, whether they are head of the list or invested, to demonstrate serenity, to fully play the peace card and to receive the popular will which will be expressed through the ballot boxes, through serenity and an acceptance that plays into the democratic game« .

And remember that there will always be winners and losers at the end of these elections. But ultimately, “ it is the Senegalese people who will be winners. And we all have a moral obligation to preserve this appreciation and judgment that the international community has of us and which is continuing, in the sense that we constitute an exception that we must preserve at all costs generation after generation.«
