Laurent Legname (coach of JDA Dijon): “It’s paradoxical because the start of the match is rather very good. We only conceded four points in five minutes, we had open shots to have a bigger advantage. And then 2-3 ill-fated attacks, we take counter-attacks on fast play. They gain confidence, go back in front and we spend the whole match chasing the score. We play the accordion and even when we come back to 44-40 a minute or two before halftime, we leave with 9 points. When we come back to 84-80, there are 2'30 left, we are still making mistakes while we make them doubt. There is a lot to say and at the same time not much. »
“We try lots of things”
“It’s a difficult situation. With the staff we work well, we try lots of different things to try to find the leverage that goes to this team and unfortunately we see that each time, there are 2-3 players who fall through. It is certain that we are not going to say that we are full of confidence but, we the staff, we remain positive, on a daily basis we explain to them through video, individual interviews, the game plan. We make very good things in training but we are not able to reproduce it in matches. I'm not going to start saying everything I think because my job is to try to get the team out of this spiral, but we have to do it with players who are just playing at the Pro A level. . »
“Some people don’t have the JDA spirit”
“We have been trying for two months, every day. There may be too much positive, contrary to what some people think. This evening, there are still plenty of positives. Afterwards it is an individual awareness of the players, but maybe they cannot do it. Maybe we made a mistake when it came to recruiting senior players. And it's not maybe, we messed up. We made some good picks, Christian (Sengfelder) and others where we messed up. We wanted to continue to entrust the team to David (Holston) who is having a great season, with Markis (McDuffie) in 4, bring back in 5 Gavin (Ware). Now we have to work. Some are on the right path to return and others are not making it. What really bothers me is that some people don't have the JDA spirit. I love this club more than anything, I have two clubs in my heart, HTV and JDA. The JDA is known for having this ethic of sacrifice, of giving of oneself, and to see players who don't have that and who don't care, that's what upsets me the most. »
