Issy-les-Moulineaux hostage-taking conclusion: suspect arrested, hostages released without tattoos

The hostage-taking that took place in a family pizzeria in Issy-les-Moulineaux (Hauts-de-Seine) ended this Saturday, November 16, around 4 p.m., with the intervention of the police. The incident, which lasted about three hours, ended with the release of four detained employees and the arrest of the hostage, a man aged 35 to 40, who was identified as the son of the owner of the company.

Wong armed ing crisis

The suspect, who was armed with a knife, took refuge in his parents' restaurant, located near the ring road, just before 1 p.m. According to a source close to the investigation, he presented “the profile of a drug addict” and had been involved in a similar incident in 2022, where he made suicide threats at his home. There were no customers in the restaurant at the time of the incident.

Negotiations led by mediators from the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) were able to discuss the situation, and people finally surrendered without putting up resistance. No injuries were reported.

The BRI, supported by about twenty police officers, was deployed at the site to secure the perimeter and organize negotiations. A large security cordon has been set up, blocking access to the neighbourhood. Residents of neighboring buildings were asked to move away from windows to ensure safety.

Iron curtains at the pizzeria were lowered, while neighboring businesses were closed as a precaution. On site, several police and fire vehicles proved the scale of the intervention.

Non-violent results

The police headquarters confirmed on the social network X (formerly Twitter) that the intervention was carried out without incident and that the traces of the terrorists had been removed. The hostages, all employees of the pizzeria, were released unharmed and the suspect was taken into custody.

Residents of the neighborhood expressed their shock at the event. Anthony, a 23-year-old student, said: “I see him every evening, he is not well. He has a drug problem, I think. » A pensioner, Monique Teichet, added: “He had a good reputation, except for him. He lost his senses a few years ago. It's sad. »

The suspect's parents, who appeared distraught, handed over the keys to the restaurant to the police shortly after the incident began. This drama, although intense, fortunately ended without violence, thanks to the police response and the effectiveness of negotiations.
