Pro-Israel social media users falsely claim Iran’s Supreme leader Ali Khamenei is dead

Reports are circulating on social media, primarily from pro-Israel accounts, alleging the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

However, these claims remain unconfirmed by Iranian authorities or credible sources. The photos shared on social media allegedly showing Ali Khamenei lying on a hospital bed are from 2014.

Some users have referenced a previous New York Times report that suggested Khamenei is suffering from a terminal illness.

However, New York Times published a correction after its first report noting that there has been no credible reports on Khamenei’s health in the last two years.

Old photos of Ali Khamenei are circulated

Others are sharing old photos of the leader in a hospital bed, claiming they reflect his current condition. Iranian state media has not addressed these rumors, leaving the situation unclear.

Israel-based Ynet claimed in its report on November 16 that Tehran has secretly chosen Mojtaba Khamenei, the second son of Iran’s Supreme leader Khamenei as the next head of the country. Similarly, such reports have not been confirmed by credible sources.
