From campervan vacations to VIP life, Audrey Tautou talks about this shift: “I was starting to enjoy luxury”

It is not with a film that Audrey Tautou returns to the spotlight, but with a book. Always passionate about photography, she reveals Superfacial published by Fisheye, “a surprising work, between diary and gallery of (self) portraits“, according to Madame Figaro. A magazine which also devotes a beautiful portrait to him, in its November 15 issue. The discreet 48-year-old artist who shuns social life has agreed to confide in all modesty.

Unforgettable Amélie Poulaina character that she has worn willy-nilly for more than twenty years, Audrey Tautou was suddenly thrown into stardom. If she never sought to be a star and remains a rather reserved personality, she nevertheless admits to having tasted the advantages of being a celebrity: “I began to enjoy luxury. I became one of those who pose on the covers of magazines, who know the palaces, the limousines, and who are lent jewelry and haute couture clothes.

A complicated situation for her to live with: “I was a young girl of 20 who, suddenly, found herself taken from her original environment. I had a childhood in Montluçon, with classic parentss [père chirurgien, mère enseignante, précise Madame Figaro]even if they had an artistic streak. We spent our vacations in a campervan, and this new life of splendor left me perplexed.

Far from the throes of fame, Audrey Tautou started her family

Unsurprisingly and despite the successes that followed, Audrey Tautou completely distanced herself from the media and society. It was therefore in secret that she became the mother of a girl in February 2019, a child from Vietnam. It was only three years later that she agreed to talk about it, in an interview with the magazine Vanity Fair.I have never spoken about it publicly, ever! If I mention it, it's because I can't silence the heart of my life. Aafter many, many years of combat, uncertain, traumatic, I experienced this happiness which goes beyond what I expected. The moments I spend with my little treasure, I allow myself not to miss them just because I should be working. A book, a film, an exhibition, if it's not me, it will be another….”
