The awarding of the Golden Hen was a family outing for Peter Maffay. The musician had his wife Hendrikje and his son Yaris there.
They have been together for almost ten years, and Peter Maffay and Hendrikje Balsmeyer largely keep their love out of the public eye. On Friday evening, the author insisted on accompanying her husband to the Golden Hen ceremony in Leipzig. Because the musician was awarded the honorary award for his life’s work.
His son Yaris was also there for this special occasion. The three walked the red carpet together and posed for the photographers. While the men opted for dark suits, Hendrikje Balsmeyer shined among them in a floor-length cream-colored gown with glittering floral appliqués. The 37-year-old’s long blonde hair fell in big waves over her shoulders, and glamorous make-up rounded off the look.
Peter Maffay and the former teacher have been together since 2015. When they met, he was 66 and she was just 28. But the big age difference was never an issue for them. They proved to all critics that their love endures. Their daughter Anouk was born in November 2018 and they tied the knot far away from the public in 2022.
However, the musician’s age does play a role in one issue: Maffay still wants to spend as much time with his youngest daughter as possible. That’s why he won’t be going on tour anymore, as he announced in the summer. “Anouk starts school next year, then I would miss it. I don’t have so much time to miss such important things,” said the 75-year-old. “It would be an illusion to assume that the mental and physical dynamics will continue for me indefinitely.”
Maffay’s 21-year-old son Yaris comes from his marriage to Tania Spengler, which lasted from 2003 to 2015. He was previously married to Michaela Herzeg, Petra Küfner and Chris Heinze. With the latter he adopted daughter Nina in 1985.
