Agree With the Judges? Rewatch the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul Fight on Netflix

On Friday night, veteran boxer Mike Tyson went head-to-head with Jake Paul in a heavyweight boxing match that lasted all eight rounds. Paul, who rose to fame as a YouTuber before shifting to a boxing career in 2020, won by unanimous decision in a bout that most viewers described as sloppy.

After earning legendary status in the ring as a heavyweight champion with a career that began in the 1980s, Tyson retired professionally in 2005 and then laced up his gloves to do exhibition matches for a few years. The 58-year-old’s last bout was in 2020 against Roy Jones Jr., another former world champion. Paul, who’s 27, had been training for months after their original fight was postponed. The pair’s training journey is chronicled in Netflix’s documentary, Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson.

On Thursday night, Tyson slapped Paul in the face during the pair’s standoff at the weigh-in after Paul crawled onto stage, stepped on Tyson’s foot and stood in his face.

Paul and Tyson have been promoting this Netflix match-up all year, which was postponed from its original date of July 20. Broadcasting live from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the event will feature a series of preliminary matches before the main card on Friday night.

Ringside commentary was provided by Roy Jones Jr., Mauro Ranallo and Rosie Perez. Sean Wheelock served as the rules and scoring expert with Mark Calo-oy as the referee.
