58-year-old Mike Tyson holds out for 8 rounds, but the victory goes unanimously to Jake Paul
YouTube star Jake Paul has handed boxing legend Mike Tyson a 7th defeat in his career. 19 years after his last professional bout, the 58-year-old “Iron Mike” lost by unanimous decision.
50 wins, 44 knockouts. Mike Tyson’s record still looks impressive, but how “bad” was “The Baddest Man on the Planet”?
The 58-year-old Iron Mike was eager to knock the dust off his boxing gloves. The three-time world champion also started aggressively, delivering several punches to Jake Paul in the opening rounds.
But the age difference – no less than 31 years – gradually became increasingly clear. Jake Paul took command as soon as Mike Tyson started breathing heavier. His taped right knee also seemed to limit his movements.
“You have to be more aggressive,” Tyson was told from his corner before the final round, but a final blow was no longer in his arsenal. Tyson lasted 8 rounds, but his glory days are clearly far behind him.
Jake Paul also couldn’t get the boxing veteran to his knees. Out of respect or out of fear of running into a counter? The jury unanimously awarded the victory to the YouTube phenomenon.
The figures don’t lie. Jake Paul landed 278 punches, 78 of which were hits. Mike Tyson threw just 97 punches, 18 of which hit.
The victory was not surprising for the young American, although Iron Mike’s age will always be an important label attached to the fight.

Jake Paul wins by unanimous decision
Mike Tyson started strong in the first two rounds, but quickly seemed to exhaust his energy reserves. Jake Paul took advantage of the age difference to increasingly take the lead. That’s how the jury saw it: 80-72, 79-73.
Ronde 8
Jake Paul is also closing in on the final lap. It never became a real boxing match, but the victory seems to go to the YouTube star.
7th round
Jake Paul continues to have the advantage. Mike Tyson demonstrates that his best days are already behind him. As hyped as the boxing camp became, it was so unimpressive in the ring.
6th round: no decision
It’s not really a real boxing camp for 6 rounds. Jake Paul also seems to be getting a bit tired. Jake Paul tries to beat Mike Tyson with jabs, Iron Mike seems to be waiting for his chance for one striking punch.
5th round: Paul takes over
Mike Tyson now has to face the fight. He takes, among other things, a solid left. Jake Paul casually drops his cover every now and then, but not much comes from his opponent.
Round 4: Tyson tires
Mike Tyson doesn’t accomplish much in the 4th round. He limits himself to dodging punches. Although the three-time world champion showed himself in the first two rounds, he now seems to be getting tired. How long can the 58-year-old keep this up?
Ronde 3
Mike Tyson starts the 3rd round aggressively, but Jake Paul has a strong answer ready. Iron Mike seems to need some time to recover. This round is for the YouTube star.
Ronde 2
Mike Tyson goes for body shots, punches to the body. Jake Paul answers cautiously, but he seems to want to wear the 58-year-old veteran down a bit first.
Ronde 1
Mike Tyson and Jake Paul felt each other out. Iron Mike first struck with a left, but Jake Paul also hit with a right hook. A close first round.
The public already has Mike Tyson on its side. Boos resound in Dallas at the performance of YouTube phenomenon Jake Paul. Then Mike Tyson will get a lot more support.
There’s Iron Mike
He hasn’t been in the ring for a professional camp for over 19 years, but Iron Mike Tyson is back. In 2005 he ended his career with a defeat. Can he still add a 51st victory?
“The wait is over”
Jake Paul is the first to enter the arena in Dallas. Together with his brother Logan Paul, they drive in a tuned Chevrolet in bright green. It can count as an entrance.
It’s up to the protagonists
The boxing ring is free for Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. How much gunpowder is left in the blows of the 58-year-old American, who became world champion three times? Or can Jake Paul, 31 years younger, excel?
Katie Taylor remains champion
Katie Taylor has defeated Amanda Serrano again. The Irish lightweight world champion was unanimously awarded the victory, although the Puerto Rican immediately protested. Serrano landed more punches and also felt that Taylor had used her head too much to do damage.

First pro camp in … 19 years
Mike Tyson has completed some exhibition fights, but for his last professional fight we have to go back to 2005. Then the three-time world champion lost against the Irishman Kevin McBride, the 6th defeat of his career. Iron Mike can boast 50 victories, 44 of which were by knockout.
Jake Paul cannot yet offer that much experience. The 27-year-old American has won 10 fights in his career, most of them against former MMA fighters such as Nate Diaz and Anderson Silva. In 2023 he suffered his only defeat to date against Tommy Fury, the brother of world champion Tyson Fury. The Brit came out on top in a split decision.
8 rounds of 2 minutes
Letting a 58-year-old boxer step into the ring is not allowed everywhere. In Texas they allowed the boxing camp between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, but with adjustments.
Instead of 10 to 12 rounds of 3 minutes, there will now be a maximum of 8 rounds of 2 minutes. The boxing gloves are also weighted, so that the blows are less hard.
The fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson is part of a boxing evening in Dallas. The match is scheduled around 5 a.m. Belgian time, but depending on the other boxing camps, this may shift.
