The week of November 18, 2024, the weather will be choppy in the Lyon metropolitan area. Of snow could sprinkle the plains of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, frosts should affect Lyon.

Here are the latest forecasts from Météo-France.

Temperatures still falling

If this Sunday the maximum temperature in Lyon was 10°C, we should not expect more than 8°C at best this Monday November 18. In the morning, the Lyonnais should cover up well since only 5°C is predicted by the meteorologists.

Then it will be a dizzying drop in temperatures during the rest of the week.

First frosts in Lyon

According to initial forecasts, the mercury will indeed drop very sharply with winter temperatures, and even the first frosts.

In detail, on Wednesday, the minimum expected in Lyon will be only 4°C. Then it will be 2°C on Thursday and Friday for minimum temperatures, against 7 and 8°C at best in the afternoon. Enough to fear the formation of patches of ice at night.

Other bad news, the sky over Lyon is expected to bring more rain showers during these three days, and even gusts to 45 km/h on Wednesday.

Plenty of snow in the Alps?

On the summit side, snow should arrive on the massifs in the coming days. “A parade of disturbances will descend from the North Atlantic. In this context, our massifs will gorge themselves, with the first winter offensive of the season,” noted La Chaîne Météo.

“Much more unsettled weather is expected next week, with the return of snow in the mountains at low altitude and a much windier atmosphere,” indicates Météo-France in its latest bulletin.

On the mercury side, we expect around -10°C at 1500 m altitude and whitened landscapes from 800 to 1000 m altitude.
