Michael Chandler has been told to change careers after the UFC star showed off his outrageous physique on social media.
Chandler is set to rematch Charles Oliveira for the UFC 309 co-main event at Madison Square Garden in an attempt to get one step closer to becoming lightweight champion.
The pair first met at UFC 262 where the American was moments away from finishing the Brazilian in the first round.
Oliveira recovered and stopped Chandler in the second round to claim the vacant lightweight title.
And the latter now looks in stunning shape ahead of their latest bout posting on X: “No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.” -Socrates”
Fans couldn’t believe how good Chandler looked with one replying: “U should just do body building after u get the belt.”
In response Chandler joked: “Ha! I’ll never cut an oz of weight when I’m done fighting.”
During media day the 38 year-old revealed that his walk-around weight is “the low 190’s [lbs]”.
As he fights at lightweight he will have to cut down to 155lbs. Fighting at middleweight (185lbs) or welterweight (170lbs) would be much less of a stressful cut.
“There’s some fights at 170 that I would love”, he teased. “Going up to 170, I really really enjoyed a training camp at 170
“The cut down to 155 which is not an easy task for me. The only reason I’ve never missed weight and the only reason I’ve never pulled out of a fight is because I have extreme discipline.”
His extreme discipline is what allows him to rock arguably the best physique in the UFC we have ever seen rivalling the likes of Yoel Romero.
But we will have to wait a while for his body building career as he does not plan retirement any time soon despite being two years away from 40.
Chandler stated he has “turned back the hands of time” and feels 25-years-old again.
He also revealed his roadmap after the Oliveira fight. He said:
“Charles Oliveira, November 16th, I beat him. I’m sitting cage side, Islam and Armen, the first month of so of 2025.
“Then we go into Ramadan. I believe Islam wins then Ramadan means he can’t be in training camp February, March, won’t be able to fight until at least June or July.
“If Conor’s able to come back, I can fight him in March. Fight Islam June or July, beat him. Chandler versus Max Holloway at the end of 2025.”
Chandler goes into this event as the underdog but the crowd aren’t necessarily on his side..
As he spoke in the press conference they booed him and when asked about it he replied: “Charles [Oliveira] is beloved.
“Hey if you don’t love Charles Oliveira you’re not a martial arts fan so I fully expect it.”
A statement which saw the crowd erupt in cheers.
