The seasons pass and the Coupe de France never returns without its share of pranks. Thus, Paris FC, dashing leader of Ligue 2, was eliminated as soon as it entered the fray in the 7th round by Quevilly-Rouen-Métropole, modest 14th in National (3rd level) after its relegation last season, this Friday evening.
In a Charléty stadium sounding hollow for the occasion, Stéphane Gilli's team, held to a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation time, lost 4-2 on penalties.
The first Parisian shooter during the penalty shootout, Maxime Lopez missed his attempt, seeing his low shot pass to the left of the goal of Patron, the Norman goalkeeper. After which, Gaudin, second Parisian shooter, placed his penalty directly on the goalkeeper.
A panenka to conclude
Diligently, the Normans each succeeded in their own, Dédé-Lhomme, 4th and last QRM shooter allowing himself to conclude the session nicely with a panenka. QRM, surprise finalist of the 2012 Coupe de France (beaten 1-0 by OL in the final), created the first small sensation of the 2025 edition.
Earlier, the evening got off to a bad start for Paris FC. At the entrance to the area, on the left side, QRM number 10, Dali-Amar, opened his right foot and opened the scoring in favor of the visitors (0-1, 18th). Without waiting too long, Paris FC reacted, Dicko taking a good cross from the left from six meters in front of the goal with his left foot (1-1, 29th).
Two minutes later, it was Kebbal, again quite prominent this Friday evening, who saw his recovery slip past Patron's post (31st). He was unaware of it at this stage of the meeting, like everyone else, but it was the clearest and the last real Parisian opportunity of the evening.
More than ever a candidate for promotion to Ligue 1 after having narrowly failed several times, Paris will certainly be satisfied sooner or later with only having a hare to chase this season. A fact that can prove to be significant in the race to climb.
Leader for a month and a half, Paris FC, which is one point ahead of Lorient, 2nd, after thirteen days, will host Annecy, 5th, Saturday November 23 (2 p.m.).
