at the RN trial, Marine Le Pen claims not to put pressure on the justice system

Questioned on TF1 about the requisitions pronounced against her by the prosecution in the case of the European parliamentary assistants of the National Front, Marine Le Pen denounces “a political death sentence”.

“Never in life.” Faced with requisitions from the prosecutor's office, Marine Le Pen counterattacks and denounces, in TF1's 20 Hours, “a revolting, deeply outrageous indictment” against her.

In the case of the European parliamentary assistants of the National Front (now National Rally), the Paris prosecutor's office requested five years in prison, three of which were suspended, as well as five years of ineligibility against the president of the RN group in the National Assembly.

“It is my political death that is being demanded,” insists Marine Le Pen.

After the prosecution's requisitions, the party's counterattack is also taking place on social networks, notably with the dissemination of a petition entitled “Support Marine! Defend democracy”.

In order to put pressure on justice? “Never in life,” argues the former candidate for the Élysée. “We had to give those who were outraged the opportunity to express this indignation, in the most peaceful way possible, through a petition,” she argues on TF1.

“The objective is to attack a political opponent”

If the prosecution's requisitions were confirmed in court, Marine Le Pen's candidacy for the presidency of the Republic would therefore be impossible in 2027. “I would be given an irreparable penalty (…) it is not the litigant who is judged, but the political target,” she adds.

For Marine Le Pen, “the objective is to attack a political opponent”, depriving “the French people” of “voting for the candidate they want.” Such a conviction would be, according to her, “a very violent attack on democracy.”
