Thus, if justice followed the prosecution, the sentence would be applied immediately, despite the appeal procedure which could be initiated, enough to prevent the elected official from running in the next presidential election.
This indictment “is profoundly outrageous, because it calls for convictions out of all proportion to the least indictable of the same type”, she also said. “It is not the litigant who is judged, it is the political target.”
