New revelations about the rebellious chosen one. La insoumise (LFI) MP Andy Kerbrat, arrested by the police in mid-October in Paris while buying narcotics, used his money order fee advance (4,700 euros monthly) to finance his drug consumption, assures Mediapart, Friday November 15.

According to the information site, the 34-year-old elected official would have “large cash withdrawals, often in the middle of the night, for an amount exceeding 13,000 euros”. His mandate fees, supplemented by the Assembly, were also used “to transfer money directly to your personal account or make unjustified payments with the PayPal and Lydia applications. All for nearly 25 000 euros”. According to Mediapart, the MP, currently the subject of legal proceedings, has experienced significant financial difficulties due to his addiction.

Questioned by Mediapart, Andy Kerbrat confirmed having “do anything” with his mandate fees, admitting to having used this envelope for his personal lifestyle, while denying that the cash withdrawals identified by Mediapart were used directly “to buy drugs”. He also indicates that he then “reimbursed these prohibited expenses”.

Currently on sick leave, Andy Kerbrat also assures that these revelations allow him to “to come out of the 'secret' in which [il s’était] locked up and who only did [l’]sink further into unhappiness and addiction”.

“Being an MP means having a duty to set an example. The facts reported by Mediapart concerning MP Andy Kerbrat are extremely serious”commented the President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, on X. “I have contacted the ethics officer so that he can immediately carry out an audit of his expenses. If the facts are proven, I will take legal action”she continued.
