The Moroccan national team began its first round of matches in the qualifiers for the U-20 African Youth Cup of Nations by achieving a victory over its Egyptian counterpart (2-1) in the match that brought them together, this Thursday evening in the city of Ismailia (Egypt).
The goals of the Moroccan team were scored by Saad Al-Haddad (40th minute) and Othman Maama (68th minute), while the Egyptian team’s goal was scored by Mohamed Al-Banna (5th minute of the second half).
In the same round, the Tunisian team defeated its Libyan counterpart with two unanswered goals in the match that brought them together this evening.
In the second round of the North African Football Federation region championship that qualifies for the U-20 African Cup of Nations, the Moroccan national team will face the Tunisia national team on November 17th, and in the third round the Algerian national team will face the Algerian national team on November 20th, while in the fourth round it will face the Libyan national team on the 23rd of the same month.
The teams of Egypt (the host country), Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Libya are participating in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in the North African Football Confederation region.
The qualifiers will be held in the form of a mini-tournament with the participation of the five teams, and the winner and runner-up will qualify for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
12 countries will participate in the finals of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which in turn will qualify for the 2025 U-20 World Cup, which will be held in Chile.
The North African Football Federation Regional Championship will feature 5 rounds during the qualifiers, and each round will witness two matches, with one of the teams being exempt from playing during each round.
