Details Surface From Meeting With Juan Soto

Red Sox outfielder Juan Soto?

Boston and Soto got together for a “productive” first meeting Thursday, according to Sean McAdam of MassLive, and while it’s still a long way from becoming a reality, the reported details from their get-together paint a pretty positive picture.

Red Sox team president Sam Kennedy, chairman Tom Werner, chief baseball officer Craig Breslow and manager Alex Cora represented the club, who reportedly offered a formal presentation to Soto and his representatives, including superagent Scott Boras, across approximately three hours.

McAdam provided some key details from the encounter, in which he described Soto as “impressed” by the presentation that included a video highlighting the franchise’s history of star players (David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, Pedro Martinez) from the Dominican Republic, his native country.

It’s important to note that the club did not discuss money with Soto, as the meeting was “largely introductory and informational” in nature, per McAdam. Boston likely wouldn’t make a formal offer until the 26-year-old finishes his formal meetings with the likes of the New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees.
