almost no one asked

The energy check has been extended to one million new beneficiaries for the year 2025. But according to information from RMC, only 5% of them made their request online. Don't delay, the claims counter will no longer be online as of December 31, 2024.

95% of new beneficiaries have still not claimed it

According to RMC, only 53,000 requests were recorded, or barely 5% of those newly eligible. A figure which raises the question of its visibility among the households concerned, with the online counter doors scheduled to close on December 31, 2024.

This check, intended to reduce the energy bills of low-income households, has been available since July 2024. Despite some information campaigns, many potential beneficiaries seem unaware of their eligibility, but also of the procedures they must complete online. . With an amount ranging from 48 to 277 euros, and 149 euros on average, this energy check can be used until March 31, 2025. Now is the time to check your eligibility via the online simulator, and to make your request.

A lack of communication on the energy check

The associations point out a recurring problem: insufficient communication and complexity perceived as voluntary in the application process. Although the government has simplified the process via online platforms, the households concerned, often less connected, struggle to benefit fully. Moreover, some potential beneficiaries are hesitant to take the steps, fearing tax repercussions or a lack of understanding of the terms of the system.

Energy stakeholders are calling for rapid action to revitalize this program. One solution envisaged would be to make the energy check automatic, as is still the case for former beneficiaries. But the end of the housing tax complicated the census by the administration.
