After a long break, the Belgian rapper unveils his new album this Friday, November 15, I lied. An experimental record which marks an artistic evolution of the artist before the release of his final project planned for 2025.
While he had announced that he was taking a break from his career to return in 2025 with what was to be his last album BEYAHDamso is already back this Friday, November 15. To keep his fans waiting before his next project, the Belgian artist has unveiled a new album, I lied.
On this eleven-track disc, initiated by the release of the single Chrome At the beginning of November, the Belgian rapper signed a daring musical shift, motivated by a desire for artistic freedom, and tried out numerous sounds far removed from his usual repertoire.
To support this stylistic evolution, Damso invited alongside him a range of renowned guests, such as Kalash Criminel on the track Strengthen meAngèle on Try everythingKalash sur Alpha and his brother Michkavie on the title Mony.
An “experimental”, “sensitive” and “touching” album
At the beginning of November, Damso organized free listening sessions of his record I lied across France, Belgium but also in Montreal to preview his album to his fans.
On social media, many listeners who participated in these sessions highlighted the experimental and eclectic aspect of Damso's project. “He’s having fun and trying a lot of things on the album,” confides one user. “You feel like you’re listening to 10 guys at the same time,” says another.
“Damso's new album is quite experimental. He tests things, and it feels good! It's quite sensitive and touching,” says a fan on X.
But Damso's creative risk-taking was not unanimous among his fans. Some of them pointed out a universe that was too “complex” and “diverse” compared to the rest of his discography. Damso's stylistic evolution could nevertheless mark an important turning point in his career, while his latest album, BEYAHis expected in May 2025.
