Donald Trump appoints anti-vaccination figure Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to head the Department of Health

Donald Trump has chosen Robert F. Kennedy Jr to head the Department of Health. He is an anti-vaccine figure, believing in particular that Covid-19 was “an ethnically targeted virus”.

It is a choice that will provoke many reactions in the world of health. American President-elect Donald Trump named Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as head of the Department of Health and Human Services on November 14.

“For too long, Americans have been crushed by the agribusiness complex and pharmaceutical companies that have engaged in deception, misinformation, and disinformation when it comes to public health,” Donald Trump wrote on his social media.

Covid-19, “an ethnically targeted virus”

The 47th President of the United States said that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. “will play an important role in helping to ensure that everyone is protected from the harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceuticals and food additives that have contributed to the crisis overwhelming health situation in this country.”

This choice is not a surprise. At the end of October during a campaign rally at Madison Square Garden in New York, Donald Trump promised to let him “go wild on drugs”. During his victory speech, the president-elect also declared “that he will help restore America to health.”

“He wants to do certain things, and we’re going to let him do them. Have fun, Bobby,” continued the future tenant of the White House.

The nephew of the former president assassinated in 1963 is an anti-vaccine figure, notably describing Covid-19 as an “ethnically targeted virus”. According to Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Covid-19 was “designed to attack Caucasians and Blacks” while “the people most immune are Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese”.

This conspiratorial personality had also compared the restrictions during the Covid-19 crisis to the living conditions of Ann Frank, killed in a Nazi concentration camp. Comments denounced by his own family and even by certain Republican executives.

Candidate in the last presidential election, the environmental law lawyer called for voting for Donald Trump rather than for him. The now member of the Trump administration nevertheless collected more than 300,000 votes.

In recent days, Donald Trump has revealed several names who will make up his administration, including the arrival of Elon Musk at the head of a ministry of “governmental efficiency”.
