The Miss Universe 2024 final is approaching. Date, location, French candidate, favorites, television broadcast… Here is everything there is to know about this 73rd edition.
The countdown has begun for the 73rd edition of the Miss Universe pageant. One year after El Salvador, the most prestigious beauty contest in the world will be held this year in Mexico City, on November 16. This is the first time in 17 years that Miss Universe has returned to Mexico.
All preparations are underway to welcome candidates from 130 countries in one of the most famous venues in the capital, the Arena de Mexico.
Who will succeed Nicaraguan Sheynnis Palacios?
Who to represent France?
Last year, the French candidate, Diane Leyre, was eliminated at the gates of the top 20. France will be represented this year by Indira Ampiot, Miss France 2023 (and Miss Guadeloupe 2022).
But two other French women will wear the colors of their region, Martinique for Catherine Édouard, and Guadeloupe for Coraly Desplan.
Both will represent their region independently.
Who are the favorites?
According to Télé-Loisirs, Tatiana Calmell (30 years old, representative of Peru), Suchata Chuangsri (20 years old, Thailand) and Celinee Santos (24 years old, Dominican Republic) dominate the victory predictions.
The public will be able to vote via the Miss Universe application or on the official website.
To date, only two French women have succeeded in winning the Miss Universe crown: Iris Mittenaere in 2016 and Christiane Martel in 1953.
Where to see the ceremony?
The program will be rebroadcast on Sunday November 17 from 7:10 p.m. Comments will be provided in particular by Sylvie Tellier, former CEO of the Miss France committee.
