Tweeters on social media denounced the holding of a ceremony in support of the Israeli occupation army, organized by an “extremist right-wing Zionist” organization in the French capital, Paris, at a time when the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and Lebanon continues.
A demonstration took place in Paris under the slogan “Party of Shame”, during which Palestinian flags and banners were raised demanding an end to the Israeli war and massacres that have been continuing since October 7, 2023.
The sponsors of the concert presented it as “a mobilization of the French-speaking Zionist forces to serve the strength and history of Israel,” and it aims to collect donations for the Israeli army, in addition to the income from attendance tickets, as each ticket amounts to 260 euros.
The ceremony, the details of which and its location remained secret, was organized by the “Israel Forever” Foundation, which is an “extremist right-wing Zionist” foundation that believes in the necessity of establishing what is called the “Greater State of Israel,” and constantly collects donations for the occupation army.
The organization is headed by Israeli lawyer Nelly Kupfer Naouri, who previously said that “there are no innocent civilians in Gaza,” and downplayed the importance of human losses in the Gaza Strip.
French unions, left-wing parties, associations and organizations supporting the Palestinians erupted in anger, especially with the invitation of the right-wing Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to attend the ceremony.
Smotrich appeared on the official announcement of the ceremony alongside the head of the organization, Kupfer, and pictures of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Ibrahimi Mosque, and the phrase “Israel forever,” before the Israeli minister was forced not to attend the ceremony under pressure from the protests.
Calls for counter campaigns
In light of these successive developments, the “Shabakat” program, in its episode dated (11/14/2024), monitored some of the tweeters’ comments on the concert, which the French capital’s police chief refused to ban or cancel.
Abeer said in her tweet, “Like France, which allowed the organization of a fundraising event for the criminal occupation army, all Arab and Islamic countries must organize donation campaigns for the benefit of the Palestinian resistance.”
Bahaa praised the protests against the “party of shame” and said, “The free people in France and all the free people in the world stand with the owners of the land and against the criminal Zionist aggressors.”
Abdel Alim highlighted the support of Western capitals for Tel Aviv despite the popular protests against it, as he said, “Israel is hated everywhere by the people, but governments sponsor it.”
Al-Tughra’i denounced France’s support for the occupation army, wondering at the same time, “How can a democratic state allow the organization of a ceremony in support of an army accused of genocide against the Palestinians on its land?”
In turn, Akram said, “If the countries of the world support the Israeli occupation army, they will be involved in a major humanitarian crime.”
Tension and heightened security are still the dominant situation in Paris, which is hosting a match between the French and Israeli national teams in the European Nations League, days after clashes took place in the Dutch capital following the Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax Amsterdam match in the European League.
