PicPay brings Pix to WhatsApp with AI that interprets audio, images and text

PicPay will allow customers to make Pix transfers using a financial assistant via WhatsApp. The tool uses generative artificial intelligence and interprets texts, images and audio. This means, according to the company, that it instantly recognizes Pix keys in various contexts or formatsas in a price table with the word “Pix” among others.

The resource will be gradually released to 57 million fintech accountsand operations will be done through an account verified by Meta, with a blue symbol next to the name, and which can receive first access through the PicPay application. All transactions are confirmed with biometrics through the company's platform.

PicPay hopes that the lever will help boost customer loyalty to the account. In the fintech's view, the union of a consolidated payment method with WhatsApp, which is often the most downloaded application for cell phones in the country, should lead to widespread adoption of the new tool.

“The use of generative AI for transactions on WhatsApp takes Pix to cross a new frontier, making it even more practical and faster, with the highest level of security”, says PicPay's Vice President of Financial Services, Danilo Caffaro . “This innovation not only opens up new use cases, but also brings the future of payments and AI directly into the palm of customers’ hands.”

  • Soon, the assistant will perform other functions, such as notifying you of bills due, allowing you to register accounts for automatic debit by sending a PDF and consulting vehicle documents. The goal is to turn it into a personalized assistant for customers.

The messenger has also been used by banks and fintechs to carry out other operations for customers, using other types of technology.

The new PicPay assistant was developed in Azure OpenAI Servicefrom Microsoft. The same artificial intelligence applied in the new product is also used in customer service, with training to resolve complex requests efficiently.
