The national team delegation took off this afternoon, Tuesday, on a special flight to the capital of Equatorial Guinea, Malabo, in preparation for their match against the national selection of this country, scheduled for next Thursday, as part of the fifth matchday of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The president of the Algerian Football Federation, Walid Sadi, is leading the “Greens” delegation. He is now fully dedicated to the national team after being busy recently with his candidacy for election to the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football, set for March next year. According to our sources, he submitted his application yesterday to the CAF general secretariat and is very optimistic about his chances, being the sole candidate for the North African region.
Before departure, Himad Abdelli and Baghdad Bounedjah made statements at Houari Boumédiène Airport, highlighting the importance of winning the next two matches, despite the “Greens” already securing qualification.

Bounedjah pointed out that the challenge lies in the lack of time, as the national coach has not had sufficient time to prepare for the match against Equatorial Guinea. Several players also needed time to recover after traveling long distances to join the team’s camp. However, he assured that he and his teammates would approach the match professionally, aware of their responsibility against a tough team eager for victory to accompany the “Greens” to the final phase.
On his part, Abdelli stated that the atmosphere within the group is excellent and that everyone is determined to win the next two matches, a message that coach Petkovic has conveyed to the players, stressing the importance of representing Algerian football with dignity.
