On a flight from Buenos Aires to Frankfurt, five passengers and six crew members were injured after turbulence over the Atlantic Ocean, The Aviation Herald reported.
A flight that didn't go as planned. On the night of Monday November 11 to Tuesday November 12, a Boeing 747-8 of the German company Lufthansa had problems over the Atlantic Ocean. Five passengers and six crew members were injured while crossing a “intertropical convergence zone”reported The Aviation Herald. The passengers only suffered injuries “minors”.
As the flight was heading to Frankfurt (Germany), from Buenos Aires (Argentina), the 329 passengers and 19 crew members encountered turbulence, in an area where warm and humid anticyclonic air masses coming from the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere come together, creating strong thunderstorm activity.
The flight has come to an end
The plane still continued its flight to Frankfurt, without any further incident. The injured passengers and crew members were treated medically. “The safety of the flight was not compromised at any time.”said an airline spokesperson, according to The Parisian. As BFMTV points out, a study carried out by British researchers shows that plane turbulence is more numerous and lasts longer because of the acceleration of the climate crisis.
