“I owe it to Michel“: Gad Elmaleh thanks Michel Denisot for a special memory
“I still have a very, very strong memory because, I don't even know if Michel Denisot understands the extent to which what happened in one of his shows was decisive in my path as an artist, in my career. On May 16, 2007, they gave me a gift: they knew that I was a fan of Jerry Seinfeld and that he was the comedian who inspired me the most. He was invited to present a film and they invited me on set at the same time as him. It was the first time that Jerry Seinfeld and I met, he was – and still is – my mentor, my master, my guide. He really became someone very, very close, and I owe that to Michel, but I don't think he knows about it.“, said Gad Elmaleh – who dubs the voice of Gru in Despicable Me for a very special reason – facing the camera in a small pellet broadcast on the set.
Gad Elmaleh looks back with humor on his numerous invitations in the Grand Journal
Before talking about this magical meeting with Jerry Seinfeld, Gad Elmaleh first reviewed his first steps in the show, on the evening of the premiere. “I'm happy because it's already a show that I watch often“, we hear the comedian say on the bare and somewhat cold set of the time. Always with humor, he even explained that being the godfather of a show was always a bit risky but that he had had confidence in the channel renowned for its offbeat tone. Gad Elmaleh did not fail to comment on his “.way too much“numerous appearances – 19 – for which he admitted not having”never got paid“.
