This Thursday, rapper Koba LaD and three people are being tried by the criminal court of Melun (Seine-et-Marne). The latter are suspected of having kidnapped and beaten up, in 2022, the artist's historic manager, who accuses him of having defrauded him.
The “rapgame” encounters some turbulence this Thursday, with the judgment of rapper Koba LaD and three of his friends. The four protagonists must appear before the Melun criminal court, for kidnapping and violent theft.
The facts concern the 24-year-old artist's mentor, Marvin I. known as “Deuspi”. Koba LaD suspects him of having stolen a fairly large sum of money and allegedly beat him up, with three accomplices, to force him to repay it.
Coming free to the October 2023 hearing, during which this case was initially to be judged, Koba LaD, whose real name is Marcel Junior Loutarila, will appear this time inside the detainee box this Thursday.
Several hundred thousand euros involved
In the early morning of April 18, 2022, upon returning from a Koba LaD concert in Lille, a group of masked men presented themselves with “Deuspi” in blood at the accommodation he occupied with his partner in Vert-Saint-Denis.
The rapper accuses his manager of having defrauded him of several hundred thousand euros and filed a complaint against him after his arrest by the police in the kidnapping case. The investigation into this financial aspect is still ongoing.
“When I look at the contracts, when I look at the files, when I look at that, I say to myself that in fact, from the start, they were screwing me,” Koba LaD told last year on Canal+, at release from a previous stay in prison.
Multiple convictions
But Koba LaD's criminal record is as extensive as his young musical career. At the end of September, he was sentenced in Paris to two years in prison, including one year, for violence in a nightclub.
In 2020, he received a three-month suspended prison sentence in Marseille for a car accident after which he fled.
The rapper was supposed to go on tour across France in early 2025, for dates for which tickets are still on sale.
In the meantime, the musician with three certified platinum albums was indicted and imprisoned in mid-September for manslaughter in Val-de-Marne, accused of having caused the death of his stylist friend in a road accident then that he was driving under the influence of drugs.
