Madrid, Nov 13 (EFE).- With the intention of connecting with new audiences, the National Classical Theater Company (CNTC) has created a video game based on the play 'The Great Theater of the World', in which its author Calderón de la Barca, one of the greatest exponents of the Golden Age, becomes the protagonist and driver.
With the help of Calderón, the players advance in the resolution of various conflicts raised from situations from the writer's original work.
Félix Álvarez, one of the creative directors of the video game, has pointed out that “it is a very original reinterpretation” of the work of the 17th century playwright.
Through the screen, “archetypal characters, created by God, are judged, an updated story full of humor. A dreamlike journey where Calderón must solve the wrongs of this work and its characters,” he indicated.
Among the characters is the King, as a representation of power; the Labrador, representative of the toxic meritocracy; beauty, which represents the emptiness of existence; greed, symbol of excessive ambition; or discretion, which is happy with nothing because it only needs its faith.
A game of deduction that takes us to scenarios that are dreamlike and evocative visions, invented and surreal universes, which have found their inspiration in the painting 'The Garden of Earthly Delights', by Hieronymus Bosch, and in the sets of José Gomar and Juan Bautista Bayuco. . EFE
