What is a lung infection?

Classic infectious agents, bacteria and viruses, enter our respiratory system every day. But most of the time, defense cells manage to protect us from them.

However, certain harmful factors, such as tobacco, toxic agents, pollution or fatigue, can weaken our immune defense system. Infectious agents take advantage of this to develop and become aggressive, a breeding ground for pulmonary infection.

When this infection affects the trachea, it is tracheitis; the bronchi are bronchitis; a lung lobe is pneumonia; a diffuse area of the lung, pneumonia. Finally, when in a specific area of the lung, an abscess forms, it is a lung abscess.

Serious health problems in the royal family

Queen Camilla is not the only member of the royal family to have suffered from a health problem. Her husband, King Charles III, was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. Aged 75, he acceded to the throne in September 2022.

Princess Kate Middleton announced this September that she had finished her chemotherapy. She had undergone surgery for a tumor in her abdomen which turned out to be cancer and had to follow a preventive chemotherapy protocol to avoid any risk of the cancer reappearing and spreading.
