Threat of severe weather today ahead of cold front

We could see some rounds of rough weather until around 6:00pm today.

“Showers and thunderstorms will move through the area during the early afternoon,” WWL Meteorologist Payton Malone forecasts.
“A few storms could produce strong wind gusts, very heavy rain and even a random tornado or two.”

He says the 0verall risk for severe weather is low.

“Stay weather aware. By this evening the storms will move east of the area as a cold front move in.”

Malone says a cooler Thursday is on tap with temperatures mostly in the 60s and sunshine.

“The nice, more seasonal weather sticks around through the weekend. Expect cooler mornings in the 50s with sunny afternoons in the 70s.”

He forecasts a much stronger cold front will move in by the middle of next week.
