As the fleet approaches North Africa, Yoann Richomme (Paprec Arkéa) is now leading the Vendée Globe, narrowly ahead of Charlie Dalin (Macif Santé Prévoyance).

On this new day in the Vendée Globe, we have the right to a new leader. Indeed, during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, Yoann Richomme (Paprec Arkéa) took control of the race by a whisker ahead of Charlie Dalin (Macif Santé Prévoyance)a little less than 6 miles from the leader. In the lead on Tuesday evening, the Briton Sam Goodchild (Vulnerable) is currently on the 3rd step of the podium, a little over 15 miles from the lead. Behind them, we find a little further Jérémie Beyou (Charal) in 4th place, at 38.8 miles, while Louis Burton (Bureau Vallée) and Thomas Ruyant (Vulnerable) then follow, at 56.93 and 56 respectively, 96 miles from Richomme. In 7th position, Nicolas Lunven (Holcim-PRB) made a good comeback.

Lunven: “It’s a bit stupid, but…”

“I chose a slightly different option for the passage around Cape Finisterre, overall I think it will make me lose a little. It's a bit stupid, but I really didn't want to take the risk! I made a wiser option but a bit of a loser! », admitted the latter, on the official website of the Vendée Globe. However, Luven had a little problem. “A little joke that lasted a few hours, as he explained. (…) I realized this quite quickly because, straight away, the boat was no longer steerable. (…) As the starboard rudder was no longer operational, it took me a little time to recover the situation! » After the Portuguese coast, the fleet is gradually approaching North Africa.
