Their story took an unexpected turn after the announcement of his girlfriend's illness, and Valentin had to face complicated situations, including meeting his girlfriend's family.
The revelation of Flavie's cancer, in the episode of Love is in the meadow broadcast on November 11 shocked viewers. Diagnosed with cutaneous Ewing's sarcoma, Flavie learned the news shortly after her stay on the farm with Valentin, when their relationship had just begun. Questioned by our colleagues at Purepeople, Valentin has spoken since this announcement. Faced with this diagnosis, he assures that he has made a firm decision: “I have had tragedies and I have always recovered more or less easily. So, I just told myself that I would be there to support him.” In fact, the relationship between Valentin and Flavie has not been put on hold, far from it. “Ah no, I didn't hesitate at all“, confides Valentin when asked if he considered stopping everything after the announcement of the illness. The young farmer chose to stay at Flavie's side, determined to face this ordeal together.

Even before starting his chemotherapy, Flavie wanted Valentin to meet his parents, an important step that he could not postpone. Valentin says: “The meeting with his parents was still brought forward because I was going to go to his first chemo and I had to meet them first. It went without saying, I had to know a minimum of his family.” But this meeting was not easy and the situation became complicated, in particular with Flavie's father. Valentin explains: “With her father it was a little more complicated because I stole his daughter indirectly, he didn't tell me like that but…“ Valentin had to take certain precautions when speaking to step-dad: “I spoke informally to his mother and I addressed his father“, remembers Valentin. Despite the tension, Valentin assures that the situation calmed down over time: “But now it's going very well, there's nothing to say.”

On Flavie's side, the situation is much better too. After taking treatment, she was able to return to an almost normal life. “She finished her chemo sessions at the end of September and she is doing better because she returned to work at the beginning of October“, confides Valentin, reassured by his state of health. The medical results are also promising: “The side where she had the operation, everything is perfect. We must pay attention to two other points.” Despite these two points of vigilance, Valentin remains optimistic and happy to see Flavie getting back on her feet.
