And there could be an isolated severe storm in the mix in southwest Alabama.
The weather service is expecting a weather system to make its way into the state on Wednesday, bringing increased chances for much-needed rain.
South Alabama was already getting rain on Tuesday morning, in associated with the remnants of Hurricane Rafael. Rafael dissipated over the Gulf of Mexico this weekend, but moisture from what’s left of the storm has set off rain across coastal areas.
More rain will be possible on and off through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Mobile.

Rain is expected to spread to more of the state overnight. Here are the rain chances from 6 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday:
On Wednesday there could also be stronger storms in south Alabama. NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has added a Level 1 out of 5 (marginal) risk for severe weather for the southwest corner of the state, including Mobile.
A Level 1 risk means that isolated severe storms will be possible. In fact, the SPC has not ruled out the chance for a tornado there as well. However, the weather service thinks that if a severe storm managed to form that damaging winds would be the main concern.
The time frame appears to be Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
The rain is expected to move out of the state during the day on Thursday, and the weekend is expected to be dry with cooler and more seasonable temperatures.
The next chance for rain for the state could arrive on Monday, but as of today it didn’t look like it would be a lot of rain.
