Near Nice, the first snows are falling: here are the magnificent images

Temperatures have cooled and winter is upon us. Here we go, the first snow fell near Nice and in the Alpes-Maritimes, this Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Some resorts on the Riviera have already regained their beautiful white coat.

Isola 2000, Valberg, Auron, Colmiane…

The first snowflakes are here! This Tuesday, November 12, snow fell in the Nice hinterland and in the Mercantour resorts, due to passage of a cold drop. This is a meteorological phenomenon which causes disturbances and very low temperatures due to an air pocket.

Isola 2000, Auron, la Colmiane, Valberg, Roubion-les-Buisses, and even in Vésubie, the snow covered the landscape with its beautiful white coat. In Valberg this morning, the thermometer went down in the negative: -1°C. The snow accumulations are starting to form a few centimeters thick.

This Tuesday, the Alpes-Maritimes department was placed in yellow snow-ice warning until 4 p.m. Around 30 centimeters of snow are expected in Tinée, particularly in Isola and the Col de la Lombarde.

From 1200 meters above sea level

On the Valberg side, beautiful snowfalls are also underway and the various photos posted on social networks are absolutely beautiful. The flakes fell from an altitude of 1200 meters.

The snowy episode is expected to last until late morning. The Riviera resorts will open in a little over three weeks : Saturday December 7 for Auron and Isola 2000, December 13 for Valberg.

We will therefore still have to wait before we can officially put on our skis.
